Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Hunts Annual Turkey Dinner is postponed until further notice.
In November, Hunt’s Church hosts its largest and most successful event of the year. The Annual Turkey Dinner serves a delicious Pre-Thanksgiving dinner to over 500 people. The church welcomes everyone from surrounding communities to attend the family-style, sit-down dinner with family and friends, or to purchase dinners for carry-out. In addition, a number of carry-out meals are donated and sent to homeless shelters in Baltimore.
The menu includes sliced turkey, homemade gravy, “real” homemade mashed potatoes, homemade dressing, string beans, homemade coleslaw, sauerkraut, homemade apple sauce, cranberry sauce, and homemade apple crunch. In addition, a bake table full of homemade desserts and snacks are available for purchase and always popular.
The planning begins weeks in advance. As the event draws closer, church volunteers perform various tasks from peeling apples for homemade apple sauce and apple crunch. Often, new friends are made as the volunteers work together. The success of this event rests on dozens of hard-working church volunteers working together in the spirit of camaraderie.
