Mission Updates

ACTC –  April and May were our months for our collection of food and donations for the Assistance Center of Towson Churches .  We have received many donations from the congregation.  Many thanks to those who have donated.  HOWEVER, it is not too late!  We will be continuing to collect through the month of May.  With the summer coming, the children will not have the school meals.  This will put more pressure on ACTC.   SUMMER IS NOT FUN IF YOU ARE HUNGRY.

Baltimore County Christian Workcamp – Hunt’s is excited to be hosting the Baltimore County Christian Workcamp again this year: July 21-26. Please think about helping at least one day and make a difference. You can help with donating auction items, working in the kitchen on Monday, or helping at the sites one or more days. This is an awesome outreach that makes such a difference to the families that the Workcamp services. No skill required!!!

Board of Child Care – We are pleased to report that Hunt’s donated 386 dozen cookies in February.  (A whopping increase of 80+%!!!) Thanks to everyone that donated.  The children will enjoy this treat so much.  Please keep the fantastic organization in your prayers as they help to support at risk young people.

Casserole Ministry – Last month we collected 15 casseroles!  Many thanks to all of you who took the time to prepare.  It is much appreciated.  Let’s try to break our record this month with a challenge goal of 20 casseroles.  Finally, the suggested recipe for the month!  These are classic flavors that simply taste delicious when paired like broccoli and sausage. This is a low cost, easy recipe that is also health conscious.  Lots of nutrition.  The base of the recipe is polenta, topped with sun dried tomatoes, sausage and broccoli rabe. We will be collecting the casseroles in the Hunt’s freezer up until the 6th of March.  Please contact Samantha Moritz if you have any questions, or if she can help with delivery or pick up your casseroles.

Camp Hope – Twenty-four youth from our Senior High group will be going to Camp Hope from June 30 – July 6 to help needy families in western Maryland. They are very excited and looking forward to the new experiences they will encounter.

Earl’s Place – Every month, there are 5-7 casseroles delivered to Earl’s Place, where they are eagerly devoured by the men. Look on the new Missions Bulletin Board for the “thank you” notes that we received from the men for the Christmas presents that we gave them to give to their children or grandchildren.

Food for Thought –   There has been a great turnout to pack the bags for the children.  During the school year, we have received about $3400 and 620 gift cards. The school would love to have people visit when Marcia delivers.

In February, there were 66 bags packed to go to Dumbarton and Ridge Ruxton Schools.  It is just wonderful to make such a difference for these students. Last year at winter break, Hunt’s was able to give each child at Dumbarton a $50 Giant gift card for food.  These gift cards were donated by members of our congregation.  Thank you so much for your generosity.

Helping Up Mission – Great news! The Helping Up Mission’s choir and band are returning once again to Hunt’s on Sunday, June 9th at both Worship Services. They will be sharing their message and fantastic music. If you were here last year, you can attest to the inspiration of their message. Please invite your friends and neighbors. Join us in uplifting this event!

Potato Drop – Hunt’s is supporting the Baltimore-Washington Conference United Methodist Men with financing the transportation to deliver potatoes to churches, soup kitchens, and other outlets that make food available to food challenged families.

Mondawmin Partnership – Jim is working hard with the students at Franklin Douglass High School.  He is helping the seniors continue their education.  Thanks to the Carroll’s-Gill’s Endowment Fund, we are once again sponsoring eight high school students to help with the Baer School through the summer.  This is such a learning experience for them and a true blessing to the school.

Manna House – No new date as of now. We will work to get a new date. If you are interested in getting involved, please call Lynn Henss at 443-600-2325.

Sponsored Children – Melissa had updated the Bulletin Boards.

UMCOR – Thank to all the people that made donations. We are sending forth $340 to support their projects around the world.
