Our faith moves us beyond our walls and into our community.

At Hunt’s, serving others is an important part of how we live out our faith. Throughout the year, our congregation supports ministries in our community and beyond through giving, collecting needed items, volunteering, and working alongside our mission partners.

Some of these ministries are active year-round, while others take place at particular times or seasons. As opportunities arise, you’ll find details about current needs and ways to participate in our weekly announcements and email.

Assistance Center (ACTC)

The Assistance Center of Towson Churches (ACTC) brings together churches throughout Baltimore County to provide food and other essential support to neighbors in need. Hunt’s supports ACTC throughout the year through monetary gifts and donations of food and personal care items, with special collection efforts at various times of the year, including Thanksgiving. Specific needs and collection details are shared with the congregation as opportunities arise.

How You Can Help: Donate requested food and personal care items, participate in seasonal collections, or make a financial contribution to support ACTC’s work.

Baltimore County Christian Workcamp (BCCW)

The Baltimore County Christian Workcamp (BCCW) brings volunteers together to make crucial home repairs and improvements for vulnerable, limited-income residents throughout Baltimore County. Hunt’s has supported BCCW since its founding in 1984, and the Workcamp has been based at Hunt’s since 1992. Each summer, volunteers of all ages and skill levels serve at homes across the county, taking on projects ranging from repairs and painting to accessibility ramps and other improvements. Hunt’s continues to provide volunteers, financial support, and space for this longtime community ministry.

How You Can Help: Volunteer during the annual summer Workcamp, lend your skills to home repair projects, provide meals or needed supplies, or make a financial contribution.

Christmas Present Project

The Christmas Present Project helps bring Christmas joy to local children and families who could use some extra support during the holiday season. Each year, a Christmas tree at Hunt’s is filled with tags listing requested gifts. Members of the congregation select tags and purchase presents, helping make Christmas a little brighter for our neighbors.

How You Can Help: Choose a gift tag from the Christmas tree during the Advent season, purchase and wrap the requested gift, attach the original tag, and return it to Hunt’s by the announced deadline.

Earl’s Place

Earl’s Place provides transitional housing and supportive services for men experiencing homelessness and recovering from substance use. Hunt’s supports this ministry throughout the year by preparing meals through our Casserole Ministry, providing food and other needed items, and supporting special projects and fundraisers. Through this partnership, our congregation helps Earl’s Place provide stability, community, and support to men working toward a new beginning.

How You Can Help: Prepare a meal for the Casserole Ministry, donate requested food or supplies, support special collections and fundraisers, or contact Hunt’s to learn about current needs and volunteer opportunities.

Food For Thought

Food for Thought helps combat hunger locally by providing weekend food for students in Baltimore County who may have limited access to food when they are away from school. During the school year, Hunt’s supports this ministry by collecting needed food items and gift cards. Volunteers, including our youth, also help pack bags of food for local students at Ridge Ruxton School.

How You Can Help: Donate requested food items or gift cards, help pack weekend food bags, or contact Hunt’s to learn about current needs and upcoming opportunities to participate.

First Fruits Farm

First Fruits Farm is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing fresh, nutritious food to people experiencing hunger throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Hunt’s supports the farm through hands-on volunteer opportunities, helping harvest and prepare fresh produce that is distributed to food banks, shelters, and other organizations serving neighbors in need.

How You Can Help: Join a Hunt’s volunteer day at the farm to help harvest produce and support the work of getting fresh food to individuals and families experiencing hunger.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry has been sharing comfort and care for more than 20 years. Members knit and crochet prayer shawls and lap robes, praying for the recipients as each piece is created. Once completed and blessed, they are given to people experiencing illness, loss, celebrations, or other moments when a tangible reminder of love and prayer can bring comfort. Recipients do not need to be members of Hunt’s Church.

How You Can Help: Join the ministry to knit or crochet prayer shawls and lap robes, or request a shawl for someone who could use a reminder that they are surrounded by prayer and care.

Carroll’s-Gill’s Permanent Endowment Fund

The Carroll’s-Gill’s Permanent Endowment Fund (CGPEF) is the legacy of faithfulness at Carroll’s and Gill’s United Methodist Churches and seeks to accomplish the following: 

  • Increase the ministry and mission outreach of Hunt’s Church

  • Strengthen Hunt’s Church to continue its ministry in a changing scene

  • Enhance the youth and Christian education programs of Hunt’s Church

  • Provide funds for the maintenance, upkeep, and repair of Carroll’s Cemetery
